Richmond, B.C (January 29, 2012): Aerocar Service deeply regrets to announce that the recent Sea-to-Sky Highway Motor Vehicle Accident resulted in the death of a chauffeur who was driving one of Aerocar’s limousines.
It is a sad day for Aerocar Service, the family and friends of a dedicated Lower Mainland Chauffeur, as the Vancouver based Ground Transportation Company mourns the loss of Chauffeur Shafiqur Rahman.
Aerocar has been advised that the RCMP are continuing to investigate the accident, which occurred on the Sea to Sky Highway on January 28th 2012 just before midnight, involving a Dodge Truck and one of its limousines. News reports have indicated that the driver of the truck, a 19-year-old from Calgary, is being investigated for impaired driving by drug (The Province). RCMP Sgt. Peter Thiessen said it’s alleged that the northbound Dodge truck crossed the centre line, veered into the southbound lane and hit the limousine.
Mr. Rahman was respected as an excellent and professional chauffeur, who was well liked by his fellow chauffeurs, Aerocar’s staff and all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, two sons and extended family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time. Aerocar Service will have on-site support for its staff and fellow chauffeurs of Mr. Rahman. We will honor his memory by dedicating ourselves to continue as a leader in the Ground Transportation Industry, an industry that he has dedicated himself to for over ten 10 years.
Mr. Rahman’s fellow chauffeurs have come together and begun fundraising efforts on behalf of the family; donations from the community are being accepted. Aerocar will be establishing a trust fund at the Bank of Montreal. As the accident is still under investigation, Aerocar is working with the RCMP and Mr. Rahman’s family. Out of consideration to the family they have requested no interviews at this time.
